View Prototypes with Presentation View

Prototypes replicate how users might interact with your designs. You can make connections between Frames to create user flows, or pathways.

Presentation View allows you to see your Prototypes in action.

You can use it while you build and test your Prototype, or when you're ready to share your Prototype with others.

Interact with Prototypes

You can access Presentation View from any File. Click the Present button - the play icon - on the right side of the toolbar.

We'll open the current File in Presentation View.

If you have added Prototyping Connections, we only display Frames with connections.

If you have no Prototyping Connections, you can view all Frames on the current page.

You can then view and interact with your Prototype:

  1. View the Device that you can select in your settings
  2. The Device will be presented on the Background Color you select
  3. View your cursor or touch indicator (mobile only)
  4. Click on Hotspots within your designs to interact with your Prototype
  5. Use the arrows to navigate between Frames
  6. Go back to the Starting Frame via the Restart button or keyboard shortcut [R]
  7. Use the menu bar to access the Prototype settings
  8. Enter Commenting mode to Add Comments to the Prototype

Tip! You can use Presentation View to present a slide deck, without having to create connections between slides. You can then navigate between slides:

  • Use the on-screen arrows < >
  • Use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard
  • Press the Enter or Return key

Adjust Presentation View Settings

You can adjust a few settings while in Presentation View

Note: You can also choose a Device Background Color and Starting Frame for your Prototypes. Learn more in our Adjust your Prototype Settings article.

Scale Mode

The Scale Mode determines what size we display your Prototype in your viewport.

We only apply a Scale Mode to your view of the Prototype, so you can adjust this to suit your preferences.

There are four (4) Scale Modes available:

  • 100% - Display at full size  Displays the Prototype based on the full size of the Frames. This may result in a cropped Prototype, depending on the Frame and screen size.
  • Fit - Scale down to fit  Shrinks the Prototype so that it fits within the viewer's screen dimensions. This is the default option.
  • Fill - Scale or up or down to fill  Makes sure the Prototype fills the entire display, on any screen size or resolution. Unlike FitFill allows the Prototype to be scaled up to fill larger screens.
  • Width - Scale down to fit width Scales the Prototype so the width fits within the viewer's screen dimensions. You will only see this option if you are using a custom Frame size and have no device selected.

Tip! You can share a Prototype with a different Scale mode by adding a Scale mode variable to the Prototype's URL:

e.g.  /proto/ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ/Sample-File?node-id=0%3A1**&scaling=contain**

  • 100% - &scaling=min-zoom
  • Fit - &scaling=scale-down
  • Fill - &scaling=contain
  • Width - &scaling=width

Full Screen Mode

To make the Prototyping process more immersive, you can enter  Full Screen mode.

This will also hide the Presentation View UI, so that viewers aren't distracted by the additional settings. This is particularly handy when testing a Prototype.

Click the Expand icon (two arrows) in the top-right corner of Presentation View.

Show Hotspot Hints

Hotspot Hints help guide users by showing them where the Hotspots are in the Prototype.

When a user clicks outside of a Hotspot, we highlight any clickable areas with a blue bounding box.

  1. Click the screen - or hover over the top of the screen - to show the menu bar.
  2. Click the View icon (👁️) in the menu bar.
  3. Select Show Hotspot Hints on Click to apply.
  4. A check will appear next to the setting when this is enabled.
  5. To hide Hotspot Hints, select the setting again to remove the check.

Show Resolved Comments

As long as you are logged in to your Figma account, you will be able to make comments on a Prototype. You will be able to respond and resolve comments.

You can decide if you would like to show Resolved comments on the Prototype. When enabled, we display resolved comments alongside any new or unresolved comments.

  1. Click the View icon (👁️) in the menu bar.
  2. Select Show Resolved Comments. A check will appear next to the setting when this is enabled.
  3. You can also choose to Show Only Your Comments in Presentation View.
  4. To hide any Resolved Comments, select the setting again to remove the check.

Note: If there are no comments on the Prototype, then this setting will be greyed out and can't be updated. Learn more about comments in our Give Feedback on Prototypes with Comments article.
