Share your Prototype with Others

When you're ready, you can share your Prototype with others.

There are a couple of ways you can do this:

Copy the Prototype Link

Every Prototype will have a unique URL. We base this on the URL of the original File, the only thing that is different is the prefix:

  • File: /**file**/ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ/Sample-File?node-id=0%3A1
  • Prototype: /**proto**/ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ/Sample-File?node-id=0%3A1

Copy From Browser

You can copy the Prototyping link directly from your browser URL:

Copy From Sharing Modal

Or, you can share the Prototype from Presentation View. This also allows you to adjust the Link Sharing settings for the Prototype.

  1. Click the Share Prototype button in the menu bar. This will open the Sharing modal for the Prototype.
  2. By default, we set the Link Sharing settings to "Anyone with the Link" and "Can View".
    1. You can adjust the Link Sharing Discovery settings using the drop down provided. You can choose from:
      • Anyone with the link
      • Anyone at Organization with the link
      • Anyone at Organization
      • Only people invited to this file
    2. It's not possible to Edit a Prototype from Presentation View. You will only be able to choose Can View from the access settings.
  3. You also have the option to Allow Viewers to copy and share the contents of a File. If you enable this, Viewers will not be able to explore or export assets from the File.

Note: This setting is only available to Student and Professional Teams, or Teams in an Organization. This is not available on free plans (Starter).

  4. Click Copy link to copy the Prototype's URL to your clipboard.
  5. Click Get Embed Code if you'd like to embed the Prototype (see below).

Note: Anyone you share the Prototype link with, will be able to access the underlying File. This is something to bear in mind when sharing outside of your Team or Organization.

Embed a Prototype in a Web Page

You can also choose to embed the Prototype directly in another website or platform.

Note: You will need to have Link Sharing set to "Anyone with the link" to embed a Prototype.

  1. Click the Public Embed option.
  2. A window will pop up that includes the embed code.
  3. Click Copy to add the code to your clipboard.
  4. You can then add the code to your website, or a platform that supports custom html.
