Dropbox and Figma

Figma and Dropbox Paper are like two peas in a pod when it comes to allowing teams to collaborate quickly and efficiently.

Now you can add live embeds of your public Figma files to Dropbox Paper documents.

Simply copy the Figma URL and paste it in the Paper document. The preview will appear. It's that easy!

Or, you can also follow the steps below:

  1. Open a new, or existing Dropbox Paper document
  2. Click the + icon to Insert
  3. Select the three dot menu to Insert by name
  4. Search for Figma in the list
  5. Grab the URL to your Figma file and paste it into the field.

What you'll see is a live embed that will change in real time and the file is edited.

You'll want to make sure you have enabled public access for the Figma file, and set the permission to can view. Here's how you do that:

  1. Open the Figma file
  2. Select the Share button in the toolbar
  3. Click Enable public access in the window
  4. Change the permission dropdown to can view

You don't need to embed the entire design file either! If you only need to embed a preview to a single frame, you can do that with the steps below:

Figma in the browser

  1. Open your Figma file
  2. Select the individual frame you'd like to embed in Dropbox Paper
  3. You'll notice the file URL is appended with ?node-id=XXXX
  4. Paste this URL into the document

Figma desktop app

  1. Open your Figma file
  2. Select the individual frame you'd like to embed in Dropbox Paper
  3. Click the Share button
  4. In the dialogue, select the box for Link to selected frame
  5. Choose Copy shareable link to this file
