Adjust permissions on a project
Before you start
Who can use this feature
Users in Professional teams or Organizations
Anyone with can edit access to the project to update permissions.
Generally, any Projects created within a Team will be accessible to all Team Members.
Team members will be able to interact with any project in the team based on their team permissions. You can:
- Invite collaborators to the project
- Change the team access for the project
- Update an existing collaborator's permissions
- Remove someone from the project
Invite someone to the project
- Open the project in the File Browser
- Click the Share button in the top-right corner.
- Enter the collaborator's email in the Invite someone field.
- Click the arrow to set their access permissions:
- Select can view to invite them as a Viewer.
- Select can edit to invite them as an Editor.
- Click the X to close the share modal and return to the project.
Note: When you invite someone as an Editor to a project, Figma will include them in your Editor count. Figma will use your Editor count to calculate your team (or Organization's) invoice. If they were already an Editor on the team, you won't incur any extra costs.
Adjust an existing collaborator's permissions
You can adjust an existing collaborator's permission on the project. This allows you to:
- Upgrade a Viewer to an Editor
- Downgrade an Editor to a Viewer
Note: When you upgrade someone to an Editor on a project, we will include them in your Editor count. We will use your Editor count to calculate your team (or Organization's) invoice. If they were already an Editor on the team, you won't incur any extra costs.
- Open the project in the File Browser
- Click the Share button in the top-right corner.
- Click the arrow next to the member's current access.
- Select Can View to make them a Viewer
- Select Can Edit to make them an Editor

Click the X to close the Sharing modal and return to the project page.
Adjust team access
By default, every project you create in the team is accessible to the entire team. Team members can interact with the project based on their team permissions.
In a Professional team, you can create an invite-only or view-only project. This
- Open the project in the File Browser
- Click the Share button in the top-right corner.
- Click the arrow next to Members of <Team Name>.
- Select can edit to allow team members to access the project based on their Team permissions.
- Select can view to create a view-only project.
- Select remove team access to create an invite-only project. Only members you have invited to the Project will be able to access it.
- Click the X to close the Sharing modal and return to the Project Page.
Remove a collaborator
You can also remove individual collaborators from the project.
- Open the project in the File Browser
- Click the Share button in the top-right corner.
- Click the arrow next to the member's current access.
- Select Remove from the options. Figma will remove that member's access to the Project.
- Click the X to close the share modal and return to the project.
