Before you start you should know
- FigJam is Figma's digital whiteboarding tool
- Supported on any plan
- Anyone with their FigJam role set to Editor is included in your billing
FigJam's free beta period ended on February 1, 2022. On this day:
- FigJam became a paid product
- Anyone with a FigJam editor role has been reset to a viewer role
- Starter teams now have a limit of 3 FigJam files
Figma has two products: Figma design and FigJam. Each product has separate pricing, but you’ll be billed for both on the same invoice. Your invoice amount is determined by the number of editor seats in each product. Learn how invoices are calculated →
Editor seats include people with an editor role in a team or organization. People can have editor roles on both Figma design and FigJam, or an editor role on just one product.
Sam wants to participate in the Product team's critique sessions and retrospectives, but doesn't need edit access to any Figma design files in that team.
An admin on the product design team gives them an editor role on FigJam, and a viewer-restricted role on Figma design. Sam will only be counted in the team's FigJam editor seats.
The cost of each editor seat is determined by your plan. Plans apply to both Figma and FigJam products. You cannot have different plans for each product. Compare plans and pricing →
If your team is on the Professional plan, Professional plan pricing applies to both FigJam and Figma design.
2022 updates
FigJam became a paid product on February 1, 2022. Learn how these changes affect your files and billing depending on your plan.
Starter
Teams on the Starter plan can continue to use FigJam for free. Starting February 1, 2022, a limit of 3 files will apply to FigJam files. This means you can have up to 3 FigJam and 3 Figma design files (with 3 pages each) in each team.
- These changes don't impact any existing FigJam files. You can still access and edit any files your created before February 1, 2022.
- Teams on the Starter plan can continue to use FigJam for free. There are no limits to the number of editors you can have on the Starter plan.
- If you already have 3 FigJam files in your team, you won't be able to create any more FigJam files. Upgrade to a paid plan to unlock unlimited file creation and more →
Draft limitations
These limits do not apply to files in a person's drafts. Anyone can continue to edit FigJam files in their drafts without impact to plans or billing.
Education
People who use Figma's free education plan can continue to create and edit FigJam files at no additional cost. There are no limits to the number of files or editors you can have on the Education plan.
If you are a qualified student or educator, you can verify your education status to gain access to this plan.
Professional, Organization, and Enterprise
Figma reset anyone with a FigJam editor role to a viewer role on February 1, 2022. This makes sure only the people who need to edit FigJam files are included in the first invoice after this update.
Anyone who had can edit
access before February 1, 2022 can still access and open FigJam files.
The first time you open a FigJam file after the update, Figma will prompt you to select what kind of role you want on FigJam files.
This applies to all FigJam files, not just the file you've opened. You'll only have to do this once.
- Select I'm a viewer to continue for free with only
can view
access.
- Select I'm an editor to take an editor role and continue to edit FigJam files. Figma includes anyone with a FigJam editor role in your next invoice.

Team admins can downgrade anyone's role from the admin dashboard. Manage members on the Professional plan →
Organization admins and workspace admins can downgrade roles from the organization's admin settings. Manage members and guests in an organization →
