Changes coming to the Figma Community
In February 2023, Figma will add support for paid files, plugins, and widgets on the Figma Community. Eligible creators will be able to publish paid resources and users will be able purchase resources directly from the Community.
Figma will no longer allow files and new plugins and widgets to include links to third-party payment sites and may only be sold through Figma’s payment platform. Existing plugins and widgets may continue to be sold through third-party payment sites.
Why support paid resources?
We want the Community experience to be better for everyone. Currently, one in ten resources on the Figma Community are paid resources that direct users to buy on a third-party site. Users have told us that not being able to easily see what’s free or paid feels confusing.
We also understand that creating resources takes a lot of time and effort. Creators have told us that setting up third-party payments and distributing files and license keys only adds to the challenge. Having to rely on another platform to sell or purchase resources isn't a great experience for creators or users.
Prepare for paid resources
Have an existing paid resource or interested in creating one? The following table explains the actions you can take based on your resource type:
If you are interested in selling resources, you may be eligible to apply to sell on Community. Eligibility requirements and application instructions will be made available when paid resources launches in February. If you plan to apply, we recommend waiting to publish the resources you want to sell until you are approved to sell on Community.
Paid resources FAQ
These guidelines apply to all files and new plugins and widgets. Existing plugins and widgets may continue to be sold through third-party payment sites.
What are third-party payment links?
These are links that direct users to buy Figma resources on a site outside of Figma. After clicking on the link a user is encouraged to make a purchase.
This includes links to third–party payment sites (like Gumroad, PayPal, Lemon Squeezy), marketplaces (Creative Market, Canva, Etsy), or a checkout page on your personal website.
Do I need to remove all third-party links from my resources on Community?
Not all third-party links are prohibited. You may include links to your personal website (as long as it’s not a payment page), a tip jar, educational content, or paid content and services that are not available on Figma.
Who is eligible to sell on the Figma Community?
If you are interested in selling resources, you’ll need to submit an application to sell on Community. To start, we're opening up applications to sell on Figma community to creators who:

We’ve invited some creators to participate in a closed beta. We’ll roll out more invites, along with more information on eligibility requirements, when we officially launch in mid-February.

What are the fees to sell on Figma Community?
When you make a sale on Community, Figma acts as the merchant of record and collects a flat 15% fee to cover transactional and operational costs. Here’s a high-level breakdown of what’s included:
- Providing dedicated purchase support and refund management
- Collecting and remitting sales tax on behalf of creators
- Facilitating the delivery of paid resources directly to users
- Monitoring fraud and abuse of resources sold on Community for creators
- Credit card payment processing for purchases and payouts
This fee is designed to help cover the cost of these changes, which we believe will improve the Community experience for creators and users. We also understand that fees can impact your bottom line and we do not plan to increase these fees in the future.
