About selling Community resources
Eligible creators can sell their files, plugins, and widgets directly on the Figma Community.
When you sell a resource on the Community, Figma handles purchase support, content delivery, and refund management. We also collect and remit sales tax on your behalf and monitor for fraud and abuse.
Note: We are not approving new creators to sell paid files on Community at this time.
This article outlines Figma’s policies and guidelines for selling resources on the Community.

What payment models are supported?
Supported payment models vary depending on the resource type:
Files
Files can be sold using one-time payments with a minimum price of $2.00. Prices are in USD and must be whole numbers. You may change the price at any time.
Widgets
Widgets can be sold using one-time payments with a minimum price of $2.00. Prices are in USD and must be whole numbers. You can change the price at any time.
Plugins
Plugins can be sold using one-time payments or a subscription with a minimum price of $2.00. Prices are in USD and must be whole numbers.
For plugins using one-time payments, you can change the price at any time. For plugins using monthly subscriptions, the price may only be increased once every 30 days and cannot be increased more than 50% at a time. Your users will be notified of price increases 16 days before the increase takes effect.
Additionally, you can offer a yearly discount (between 1 and 95%) for plugins sold using a subscription. Users who purchase a yearly subscription to the plugin are locked into the price set at time of purchase for one year. You can toggle this setting as often as needed. This allows you to offer discounts at different times throughout the year.
Can users try out resources before purchasing?
Content preview options differ depending on the resource type:
Files
Users can preview the contents of a paid file before purchasing it:
- Figma Design files: Only the first page is accessible to users until they purchase the file. We recommend that you structure your file in a way that uses the first page as a preview and includes the rest of the paid content on other pages.
- FigJam files: We will generate a preview of your file that will display on its Community page. Users can’t duplicate a paid FigJam file until they purchase it.
Widgets
Paid widgets do not include a free trial by default. You can use the Payments API to build a custom trial experience for your paid widgets. For more information, see the Payments API documentation.
Plugins
- Paid plugins using one-time payments do not include a free trial by default.
- Paid plugins using subscriptions include a seven-day free trial by default.
You can use the Payments API to build a custom trial experience for your paid plugins. For more information, see the Payments API documentation.
Can admins purchase resources for team or organization members?
We do not currently support purchasing resources for team or organization members. Paid resources can only be accessed from the account they are purchased on.
How do I get paid for my work?
You may cash out your balance 30 US business days after a sale is made. There is a maximum of one cash out per week. You can view and track your sales metrics directly from the Metrics tab of your Community profile.
Will users be able to access their purchased plugins or widgets on multiple accounts?
Users can only access purchased resources from the account they purchased them on. Users will not be able to access paid resources from connected accounts and must purchase the resource again if they want to use it on another account.
Can I sell my existing Community resources?
You cannot sell files that have already been published as free.
You may move some functionality from an already published plugin or widget behind a paywall using the Payments API. However, the plugin or widget must still contain free features in addition to paid. For more information, see the Payments API documentation.
Can I publish paid resources from a team or organization Community profile?
We do not support publishing paid resources from team or organization profiles. Paid resources can only be published from individual accounts that have been approved to sell on Community.
How are co-creators handled?
Paid resources may have multiple creators but only one designated payee. The creator who first publishes the resource will be listed as the designated payee. Once the designated payee is set, it cannot be changed.
We do not support split payouts at this time.
What are the licensing terms for paid resources?
Licenses vary depending on resource type. See Figma Community copyright and licensing →
What is the Creator Fund?
The Creator Fund is a new grants program for creators who make and share free resources on the Community. Learn more about the Creator Fund and how to apply for a grant →
Fees and taxes
Note: The information we provide should be considered general information. This document should not be relied on as tax advice or acceptance of responsibility for your tax liability or related costs. If you have additional tax questions, we recommend you seek advice from a registered tax advisor who is knowledgeable about sales and income taxes and any other taxes that might apply.
What are the fees to sell on the Community?
When you make a sale on the Community, Figma collects a flat 15% fee to cover transactional and operational costs. This includes:
- Credit card payment processing for purchases and payouts
- Providing dedicated purchase support and refund management
- Collecting and remitting sales tax on your behalf
- Facilitating the delivery of paid resources directly to users
- Monitoring fraud and abuse of resources sold on the Community
How is sales tax handled?
As an online marketplace facilitator, Figma will collect and remit sales tax on your behalf. A marketplace facilitator is defined as a marketplace that contracts with third-party sellers to promote the sale of certain tangible property, digital goods, and services through the marketplace. For the latest information on covered jurisdictions, visit our sales tax and VAT Help Center article.
The sales tax rate your customers will be charged depends on their billing location.
Note: Sales tax that is paid by your customers will not affect your earnings. Your earnings will not be increased if your customer pays sales tax.
How do I receive my 1099 tax form?
You can find your 1099 tax statement form on your Stripe dashboard. We won't mail your statement unless you have opted out of electronic delivery. To opt out of electronic delivery for your tax documents, contact us at tax@figma.com.
I’m a non-US creator. What tax form do I need to complete?
Figma is required to collect Form W-8BEN (individuals) or Form W-8BEN-E (entities/businesses) from all non-US creators. This form is required for determining any applicable withholding tax when a non-US creator receives a payment from a US entity, such as the payouts from Figma for the sales of resources on the Figma Community.
Failing to submit this form may impact future payouts. You can download a copy of the form from the United States’s Internal Revenue Service website. Completed forms can be submitted to Figma’s Accounts Payable team at ap@figma.com for review.
Refunds
How are customer refunds and purchase support handled?
Figma will manage purchase support, including refunds, for creators selling on the Community. Customers can request an automatic refund within 24 hours of purchasing a resource using a one-time payment. The amount refunded will be charged back to the seller.
Note: Plugin subscriptions are not refundable. Customers who cancel a subscription will have access to the plugin until the end of the billing cycle.
Refund requests made after 24 hours are subject to Figma's discretion.
Other terms and conditions
Are there additional terms and conditions for selling resources?

- Respond to customers within three business days through email, and to respond to requests from Figma within one business day (we will only contact you for urgent issues)
