UI3: a guide for admins
At Config 2024, we announced a redesigned Figma that improves ease-of-use, ergonomics, and consistency across Figma products. This redesign is known as UI3.
Our intent with UI3 is to make Figma Design feel more focused for designers and more approachable for a broad range of users.
It also helps us lay the foundation for Figma’s future. UI3 helps us bring design and code closer together with Dev Mode, unlock efficiencies with Figma AI, and create a consistent experience across new products like Figma Slides. UI3 helps us set the stage for a cohesive family of tools across Figma.
In this article, you can learn more about how UI3 is rolling out and how to support your team with the transition.
Frequently asked questions
What changed in UI3?
Several features in Figma Design are now in different locations in UI3. If you want to learn more about the redesign and see where certain features have moved, check out the guide to navigating Figma’s redesign.
Note: Some recent features—like AI tools in Figma Design—are only available in UI3.
Tip: We’re actively updating all our documentation to support users through this change. Many articles have a toggle to view the documentation in either UI2 or UI3.
Can you disable access to UI3 for everyone in my organization?
UI3 is available for everyone to use. It can't be disabled, though individual users can switch back to UI2 at any time via the in-product help menu.
How long will UI2 be available?
To support the transition to UI3, everyone has the ability to toggle between UI2 and UI3 so they can get accustomed to the redesign.
We will eventually retire UI2 in late 2024 or early 2025. Admins will be notified in advance when there is a set date for UI2’s deprecation.
In the meantime, we are working hard to incorporate your feedback and improve on the redesign!
