This feature is rolling out over the coming weeks. If it’s not in your account, hang tight; it will be there soon.
Who can use this feature
Figma Make is available for Full seats on paid plans
You can try Figma Make on other seats and plans
Requires view access to a Figma Make file or preview
Comments make it easy to give and receive feedback on a prototype or web app built in Figma Make. You can add comments directly from the editor—or from a full-screen preview.
Because Figma Make files are live, interactive applications, commenting works a little differently than in other Figma files. When you click an element to place a comment, Figma captures a screenshot of the element’s current state and attaches it to your comment. This gives reviewers visual context for your feedback—even if the app changes after the comment is placed.
Since Figma Make creates a new version of your file with every code change, some comments may refer to earlier versions of the app that look different from the current one. The comment sidebar organizes comments into two sections—Current version and Other versions—so you can focus on feedback that's relevant to what you're working on now. You can also sort and filter comments across both sections.
Tip: To share a preview of your app with collaborators, see Preview a functional prototype or web app.
Add a comment
You can only comment on the latest version of the app. If commenting isn’t available in the editor, double-check that you’re viewing the most recent version.
Note: While in comment mode, you currently can't interact with the app. To navigate or click through the app, exit comment mode first.
- From a Figma Make file, or a shared preview, click Show comments at the top of the screen.
- Click the element where you want to place your comment. Make captures a screenshot of the current state of the element and attaches it to the comment.
- Type your comment. You can mention collaborators, add emoji, or attach additional images or GIFs.
- Click Send to post your comment.
- Click Hide comments to exit comment mode.
Note: The screenshot attached to a comment may not match what you see in the editor. Because browsers have limitations when capturing screenshots of live, interactive content, some visual details may not appear precisely as shown. Please give us feedback if a screenshot doesn’t match what’s in the editor.
Add a comment using a keyboard
You can leave comments on your Make file using only your keyboard. To add a comment:
- Navigate to the Comment tool in the toolbar and press Enter.
- Press F6, or use Tab or Shift Tab until focus reaches the Comment Cursor.
- Use the arrow keys to move the cursor around the page.
- When the cursor is near the edges of the screen, it will scroll the page automatically.
- Once you're hovering over the element you want to comment on, press Enter to compose your comment.
- Press Enter to add the comment.
To remove focus from the Comment Cursor, press Escape to return to the right comments panel. Use Tab or Shift+Tab to continue to move focus around the page.
Take action on a comment
- Enter comment mode by clicking Show comments.
- Click a comment in the right sidebar to open the thread.
- Take one of the below actions.
| Action | How it works |
|---|---|
| Reply to a comment | You can mention collaborators, add emoji, or attach additional images or GIFs. Your reply is added to the thread. |
| Resolve a comment |
When feedback has been addressed, click Mark as resolved on the original comment. Resolved comments are hidden by default. To view them, use the Show resolved comments filter. |
| Mark a comment as unread | Click More options on a comment in the right sidebar, or at the top of a comment thread, then select Mark as unread. This action only applies to you. |
| Copy a link to the comment thread | Click More options on a comment in the right sidebar, or at the top of a comment thread, then select Copy link. This link opens the comment thread directly so others can continue the conversation. |
| Edit a comment | Select a comment so it's in focus, then click More options–on the comment, not the thread—and select Edit. |
| Delete a comment thread | Click More options on the parent comment and select Delete thread. This deletes the comment thread and all its replies. |
| Delete a reply | Click More options on a reply and select Delete comment. This will remove the comment from the thread. |
Filter and sort comments
Because Figma Make creates a new version each time the code changes, your file may accumulate comments across multiple versions. Filters help you focus on what’s most relevant.
To open the Sort and filter menu:
- Click Show comments.
- Click Sort/Filter from the comments toolbar and choose one of the options below.
Sort
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Sort by date | Show comments in chronological order, newest or oldest first. |
| Sort by unread | Surface comments you haven't seen yet. |
Filter
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Show resolved comments | Show resolved threads alongside open ones. |
| Only your threads | Show comments you created or were mentioned in. |
| Only current page | If your app has multiple pages or views, show only comments from the page you're currently viewing. |
Adjust your notification settings
Control how you're notified about new comments on a Figma Make file.
- Click Show comments, then select Settings in the comments toolbar.
- Under Comment notifications, choose one of the following:
- Everything: Get notified about all new comments.
- Just mentions and replies: Only get notified when you're mentioned or someone replies to your comment.
- Nothing: Turn off comment notifications for this file.
From the same menu, you can also select Mark all as read. This applies only to the current file and removes unread comment indicators. This action only applies to you.
