Access or opt out of AI features

AI beta

• Figma may have multiple features in beta at a given time.
• Beta features can change or evolve at any time. You may experience bugs or performance issues while features are in beta.
• Figma reserves the right to cap or disable AI feature usage at any time, including due to high demand.

Access to AI features

The AI features in Figma is automatically available on all free Starter teams and paid plans.

• If you have not opted out of beta AI features, you will automatically get access to features as soon as they become available. No further action is required by you.
• If you or your team’s admin have opted out of beta AI features, you will not get access and your data will not be sent to our third-party AI vendor. Learn more about Figma’s AI subprocessors →
• If you’re not seeing beta AI features, you may already be opted out for two reasons:
  • Starter and Professional teams, or Organization and Enterprise plans: Your admin has already chosen to opt your team or organization out of AI features. Please contact your admin if you have questions.
  • K-12 Education Organizations: Figma’s policy requires a minimum age of 13 to use AI features. To ensure compliance with this policy, AI features will not be enabled for users who are a part of K-12 organizations. If you have any questions, please contact education@figma.com.

Data usage

Figma’s agreement with OpenAI provides that data is not to be used for model training. Data inputted into AI features is sent to OpenAI for processing and generating AI output. Data is temporarily retained in OpenAI’s environment to provide the services, however it is not used for model training.

Opt out of AI features

Organization and Enterprise plans

Beta AI features in Figma are automatically available on all paid plans. Admins for paid plans can opt out of AI tools for their team or organization at any time:

1. Visit the Admin settings for Organizations and Enterprise.
2. Scroll to AI beta > toggle Figma and FigJam AI off.

This will opt your organization out of Figma’s AI features. To opt back in, follow the same steps above and toggle AI features on.

Starter and Professional teams

Beta AI features are automatically available to teams on Starter and Professional plans. Team admins can opt out of the AI beta at any time:

1. Visit the file browser > select the team you'd like to opt out.
2. Click the  dropdown menu next to the team name and select View settings.
3. Scroll to AI beta > toggle Figma and FigJam AI off.

This will opt your organization out of Figma’s AI features.

To opt back in, follow the same steps above and toggle beta features on.

K-12 Education Organizations

Figma’s AI features will not be available to K-12 organizations at this time.

Drafts

Opting out of AI features for a team will apply to files in a team, but not an individual user’s drafts.

Personal drafts: AI features are available in someone’s personal drafts for Starter and Professional teams and cannot be disabled at this time.

Drafts in an organization: Drafts and team files within an organization will have the AI permissions of that organization applied to them.

Here are a few scenarios:

• Drafts and team files created in an organization will have AI feature limitations applied to them.
• If you are part of an organization but create a draft in a Starter or Professsional team outside the organization, the file will be a personal draft and not have AI features limitations applied regardless of your organization’s preferences.
• If any draft is moved into a team that has had AI features disabled, the file will have limitations applied to it according to that team settings.
• If you are not part of an organization and create a draft, it will become a personal draft and have access to AI features. If you want to disable AI features for a file, you can move the file to a team and toggle AI beta off in the team settings.

Opt back in to AI features

• If you have opted out on a Starter or Professional team, admins can turn AI features back on at any time from your team settings.
• If you are part of a team on an Organization or Enterprise plan, only admins are able to toggle AI features off or on for your team. Contact your plan’s admin if you have questions.
