access to a slide deck can add or change slide transitions
Slide transitions are visual effects that play as you progress through your deck. You can add different transitions to individual slides or apply a single transition to your entire deck.
Add a slide transition
- Select the slide you want to add a transition to. You can select multiple sides using the keyboard shortcuts:
- Hold ⌘ Command or Control and click to select individual slides
- Hold Shift and click to select a range of slides
- Select the Animate tab in the right sidebar.
- Choose a transition from the Style dropdown menu. A preview of the transition plays in the right sidebar. You can identify which slides have a transition by looking for the icon in the left sidebar.
- If the transition type you choose includes directional options, select an arrow to set which direction the transition should start from.
- Select an easing or spring animation preset from the Curve dropdown menu. This determines the acceleration of the transition between the current slide and the next slide. Learn more about easing and spring animations →
- Choose a duration for the animation.
- Use the Timing dropdown to set the animation to play immediately or after a delay.
- (Optional) Click Apply to all slides to apply the same transition to every slide in your deck.
Edit or remove a slide transition
- Select the slide you want to update.
- In the Animate tab of the right sidebar, do one of the following:
- To change the transition, choose a different transition and adjust the direction as needed
- To change the transition direction, select an arrow
- To remove the transition, select None from the Style dropdown menu
Slide transition animations
Smart animate
The smart animate transition looks for matching objects that exist between two sequential slides and creates the effect of objects moving, resizing, or rotating as you progress through your deck.
The easiest way to create seamless animations using smart animate is to add objects to a slide, duplicate that slide, and then rearrange, resize, or reorient the objects on the new slide. Any objects that appear on both slides will be used for the transition effect. Objects that only appear on one slide will fade in or out as you move between slides.
Dissolve
The dissolve transition will fade in the next slide on top of the previous slide.
Push
The push transition will push out the previous slide as the next slide is moved into view. You can choose to push the new slide in from the left, right, top, or bottom.
Slide in
The slide in transition will move the next slide into view while dissolving the previous slide. You can choose to slide the new slide in from the left, right, top, or bottom.
Slide out
The slide out transition will move the previous slide out as the next slide comes into view behind it. You can choose to slide the previous slide out of view from the left, right, top, or bottom.
Move in
The move in transition will move the next slide into view, above the previous slide. You can choose to move the next slide into view from the left, right, top, or bottom.
Move out
The move out transition will move the previous slide out of view to reveal the next slide behind it. You can choose to move the previous slide out of view from the left, right, top, or bottom.
