Fill mode
The fill mode determines how Figma Slides will apply a fill to an object. This takes into account the dimensions of both the visual, and the object you’re adding it to.
Use the Fill mode dropdown menu to select a mode:
- Fill: This positions and scales the visual so that it takes up the entire area. If the visual and the object are different shapes, the content may be clipped to ensure the shape is completely filled.
- Fit: This ensures the entire visual is visible within the object it fills. Depending on the shape of the object, the visual may not completely fill the object.
- Crop: This allows you to adjust the boundary lines of your visual and control which part of the visual you can see. The cropped portion is hidden, rather than deleted. This means that you can reverse the action at any time by double-clicking on the object and using the handles to adjust the cropped area.
- Tile: This creates a repeated pattern of the visual, which fills the entire object.
Add an overlay
The Overlay dropdown menu allows you to add an overlay to a visual. Choose a color or gradient for the overlay and use the slider or enter a number in the percentage field to set the opacity.
Add a blur effect
The Blur dropdown menu allows you to add a blur effect to a visual. Use the slider or enter a number in the percentage field to adjust the blur value.
Change the opacity
Use the Opacity field to adjust the opacity of a visual.
Round the corners
To round the corners of an entire object, select a preset from the Corner rounding dropdown menu or enter a number in the field.
To round individual corners:
- Select the object you want to update.
- Hold down the modifier key:
- Mac: Control
- Windows: Alt
- Hover over the corner you want to adjust until the handle appears.
- Drag to adjust the corner.
Add a border
Give your visual a border to help it stand out. Use the Border settings to customize the style, size, and color of the border.
Add a shadow effect
Add a shadow effect to your visual to create a sense of depth. Use the Shadow settings to set the intensity of the shadow and adjust the opacity using the slider or percentage field.
(Video only) Adjust the playback settings
You can adjust the following settings for videos added to slides:
- Autoplay: If enabled, the video will automatically play when the slide appears
- Loop: If enabled, the video will repeatedly play in a loop for as long as the slide is visible during a presentation
- Sound: If enabled, any sound included in the video file will be audible during a presentation
Note: These settings only apply when playing the video during a presentation. They do not impact how the video looks on the canvas.
