Figma Sites is now available on the Starter plan, so that teams can design and prototype responsive websites at no cost.
Starter teams will be limited to a total of 3 total Figma Sites and Figma Design files in a project.
- We continue to support a 3 file limit for each other Figma product in a project (i.e., 3 Figma Slides files, 3 FigJam files, etc.)
- As always, Starter teams can create unlimited drafts on any Figma product.
Below are answers to some common questions.
Who does this update apply to?
This update applies to anyone using the free Starter plan.
When does this go into effect?
This change goes into effect starting on September 17, 2025, and will roll out over a few days.
Is Figma Sites completely free on the Starter plan?
Most Figma Sites features (including pre-built blocks, responsive layouts, and interactivity) are available on the Starter plan. Publishing a site to a live domain requires a paid plan.
Why do Figma Design files and Figma Sites files count toward the same limit?
Figma Design and Figma Sites share a lot of the same core features—you can copy and paste content between them, edit designs directly, and reuse assets across both. Because of this overlap, we count them together toward the same file limit.
Having a shared limit now also helps us lay the groundwork as we continue building a more seamless experience across Figma Design and Figma Sites.
What happens when I reach the file limit?
When you reach the file limit:
- You’ll still be able to edit and share existing files.
- You won’t be able to create new files unless you:
- Reduce your file count to 2 or fewer by moving files back to drafts or deleting files, or
- Upgrade to a paid plan
You can still create unlimited drafts.
What is the difference between drafts and files?
- Drafts are private to you and live in your team’s Drafts space. You can experiment, create, and iterate here.
- Drafts on the Starter plan do not support collaboration with other editors, although they can be shared with unlimited viewers.
- When ready, you can move a draft to a project to collaborate with your team.
- Files live in your team’s projects and support real-time collaboration with unlimited editors.
You can access your drafts from the Drafts tab of the file browser. You can access your team files from the All projects tab of the file browser.
How can I move a draft to a project, and vice versa?
To move a file:
- In the file browser, find the file you want to move.
- Right click the file thumbnail and select Move file…
- Choose a destination project, or select your drafts.
- Click Move.
