Who can publish Community resources?
Before you start
π§ This feature is currently in beta
Only members of the Figma Community beta can publish files. You can join the Figma Community beta on any Figma plan.
Only users with can edit access to a file can publish files.
Community profiles showcase creator contributions to the Figma Community. Figma supports Community profiles for individuals, teams and organizations.
There are two ways you can share a resource on your Community profile:
- You publish the file or plugin.
- You, or someone else, lists you as a creator on a file or resource.
We'll cover the requirements for both options in the article.
Publish resources
Publish any Figma plugins you've developed or files you want to share with the Community.
You can publish any file you have can edit access to. This includes files in your drafts, teams, and any shared projects.
Anyone with can edit access to the file can publish updates to the file. This includes updating the tags or description, and adding or removing creators.
There are some extra restrictions in place for publishing to a team or organization profile. Learn how to publish a file or plugin:
- Individual profile
- Team profile
- Organization profile
Figma will determine what profile you can publish to based on the file's location and your permissions. Show me the permissions table β
TLDR To publish a file to the Community, you must have can edit access to the file.
Only team admins can publish to a team's profile, and only organization admins can publish to an organization's profile.
If you are an admin off a team or an organization, you may be able to publish to more than one profile. You can select which profile(s) when you publish the file. Learn how to publish a file to the Community β
Individual profiles
Who can publish to a personal profile?
Anyone with a Figma account can create a personal profile. You can create one profile per Figma account (email address).
Anyone with can edit access to the file can publish that file to the Community. Publishing files is currently restricted to members of the Community beta.
Anyone with a Figma account can create a personal profile. This will include any files and plugins you publish, or any files you're listed as a creator on.
You can publish any file you have can edit access to. This includes files in your drafts, teams, and any shared projects.
Community profiles can only be associated with one Figma account (and therefore one email address).
If you have both personal and work Figma accounts, we recommend picking one to create your profile from.
Organization members
If you are part of an organization, your Community profile will be tied to your company email. Any files or plugins you create and share from that profile will belong to the organization.
Should you leave, or be removed from the organization, you won't be able to access to this profile or the original files and plugins. The organization can choose to add you back to the original file, which will allow you to be listed as a creator under a personal profile.
If you want to publish to a profile that you have complete control and ownership over, we recommend publishing from a personal account that isn't linked to your company email.
Organization admins are the only ones who can publish files and plugins to the organization's Community profile. Organization admins can choose to recognize an individual creators contributions by adding them to the file as a creator. Learn more about adding creators when publishing a file β
Team profiles
Who can publish to a team profile?
Supported on Professional, Education, and Starter teams, and the Organization plan.
Only team owners and admins can publish files and plugins to a team profile. Publishing files is currently restricted to members of the Community beta.
The file has to live within that team. If it is in your drafts or another team, you will need to move it to the correct team to publish it. Learn how to move files β
As part of the publishing process, team admins can add other contributors as creators. Creators need to be directly invited to the file with can view
or can edit
access. Learn more about being listed as a creator β
Note: Once the file is published to the Community, you won't be able to move it to another team. You can still move it between projects on the same team.

Only organization admins can publish files or plugins to an organization profile. Publishing files is currently restricted to members of the Community beta.

This won't include any comments or version history from the original file. Learn how to export .fig files β
Which profile(s) can I publish to?
Figma uses your team or organization permissions to determine which profiles you can publish files to. Use the tables below to see which profiles you can publish to based on the file's location.
Note: You only only publish a file if you have can edit
access to the file. You can still be listed as a creator if you have been invited to the original file with either can view

Creator contributions
If you've contributed to other files in the Community, and have a role on that file, you can also be added to the file as a creator.
Publishers can add any others contributors to the file as creators as part of the publishing process. Creators need to have explicit can view
or can edit
permissions on the file itself.
Every who is added as a creator will have the option to accept or decline the request. Figma will send you a notification in your account.
Figma will display accepted creators on the file's Community page, as well as include the file on each individual creator's profile.
If you have published to a team or organization profile, Figma will show the team or organization first, then any individual creators.
Note: If you only have access to the file based on your team permissions, you won't be included in the list of potential creators. If someone is missing from the list of creators, you will need to invite them to the file itself.
