Add Figma Design libraries to your slide deck

Who can use this feature

Available on any plan

Anyone with can edit access to a slide deck can add libraries

Add Figma Design libraries to your slide decks to access your team’s components, variables, and styles in Figma Slides. Using design library assets in your decks can help you make sure your presentations are always in sync with your company's colors, fonts, and logos. 

Add a library to your slide deck

1. Click Assets in the toolbar.
2. Click Add your own.
3. Enter the library name in the search field or browse through libraries available to you.
4. Click Add to file.

Access library assets

When you add a library to a slide deck, everyone with can edit access to the deck can use library assets.

Access components and component properties

Component and component properties can be accessed in both slides and design mode.

To add a component:

1. Click Assets in the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut Shift I.
2. Choose from recently used components or select a library.
3. Drag a component onto the canvas to add an instance of it to your slide deck.

If the component you added has component properties, you can access them in the right sidebar. Select the component on the canvas to view the available component properties.

Apply variables

You can only apply variables to objects while in design mode. Applying variables in Figma Slides works the same as it does in Figma Design. Learn more about applying variables to designs →

Apply variable modes

You can switch the variable mode on an object or slide so the design displays the variable values you want. Variable modes are available in slides and design mode. Learn more about variable modes →

For individual layers: You can switch the mode of a layer if there is at least one variable applied to the layer and the variable has multiple modes.

For frames, groups, components, and entire slides: You can switch the mode if a nested layer has at least one variable applied and the variable has multiple modes.

To switch modes on an object, select the object, click Apply variable mode in the right sidebar, and choose which mode you want to apply.

To switch modes on an entire slide, deselect everything on the slide, click Apply variable mode, and choose which mode you want to apply.

Apply styles

If a library you added includes styles, you can apply styles to objects in your slides. Accessing styles differs depending on which Figma Slides mode you’re using.

If you’re using slides mode, you can access the following style types:

Text styles

1. Select a text layer.
2. Click the Text style dropdown in the right sidebar.
3. Click Apply styles to view a list of available library text styles.

Color styles

1. Select an object with a fill or stroke.
2. Click the Fill dropdown.
3. Do one of the following:
   • To add a template color, click the plus next to Template colors
   • To add a color outside of the template colors, select Add color below Others in this deck
4. Select the Libraries tab to view a list of available styles.

Update a library

When someone publishes an update to a component, style, or variable in a library, Figma notifies every file that uses these assets that an update is available. To see any updates to instances in your slides, you’ll need to accept any updates from published libraries. Learn more about accepting library updates →

1. Click Assets in the toolbar. You'll see a banner notification if updates are available for your components.
2. Click Update.

Remove a library

If you no longer need to access a library, you can remove it from your slide deck.

1. Click Assets in the toolbar.
2. Click Add your own.
3. Click Remove next to the library you want to remove.

The library is removed from your list of available libraries. Keep in mind that this won’t remove existing library components from your slides.
