Add an image or video to a slide
Drag and drop files from your computer into Figma Slides, or use the media picker to select the files you want to add. You can import multiple files at the same time.
- Click Image/video in the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut:
- Mac: Shift Command K
- Windows: Shift Ctrl K
- The media picker opens. Select the files you’d like to add to your slide deck and click Open.
- Your cursor will show a thumbnail of the first file. If you selected multiple files, a badge displays the number of files you have left to place.
- Do one of the following:
- Click on an area of a slide or the canvas to add the file to those coordinates. Figma Slides will add the file at its original dimensions.
- Click and drag to define the dimensions of the file. This allows you to add the file with dimensions that are different from the original file.
- Hover your cursor over an object with a fill, such as text or shapes, and click to replace the fill with your file.
Once added, you can use the Fill section in the right sidebar to adjust how your visual looks. Learn more →
Note: Videos and animated GIFs display as static images when viewing a deck in the Figma Slides editor. To play a video or GIF, open the deck in presenter view.
Add an image or video to a media placeholder
Some templates include slide layouts with media placeholders. Media placeholders let you easily add your content without impacting other objects on the slide. You can identify media placeholders by their white and gray checkered fill.
To replace a media placeholder:
- Select the media placeholder.
- Click Image/video in the toolbar or Choose media in the right sidebar.
- Select the file you want to import.
- Click Open.
The file will be added to the media placeholder as a fill. You can use the Fill section in the right sidebar to adjust how your visual looks. Learn more →
