Anyone with can edit access to a file can add text animation styles
Text animation styles let you quickly apply motion effects to text layers in your designs.
There are two types of text animation styles:
- Basic: Applies a single-property animation to the text layer, which you can customize to fit your needs
- Composite: Applies refined motion out of the box, often combining multiple basic text animations to create more complex movement
Apply a basic text animation style
- In Figma Motion, select the text layer you want to animate.
- Click Add Animation in the Animations section of the right sidebar.
- Choose Text from the list of options. If you don’t see the Text option, make sure you’ve selected a text layer.
- Use the settings to configure the animation’s direction and the unit of text it applies to (character, word, line, or paragraph).
- Click Text stagger settings to access additional settings.
Note: You can turn animations into reusable animation styles and share them with your team. Learn more about custom animation styles.
Apply a composite text animation style
- In Figma Motion, select the text layer you want to animate.
