Before you Start
Who can use this feature
Available on the Organization and Enterprise plans
Organization members with can edit
access to a slide deck can publish the slide deck as a template to a team or the entire organization
You can create and publish custom slide deck templates using your brand’s color palette, typography, and logos so that your entire organization can stay on-brand for every presentation.
Once you’ve created a custom template, you can publish it to your team or make it available to everyone at your organization.
You can identify slide deck templates by the template icon in the file browser. To make it easy to find and manage your custom templates, we recommend keeping them in one project. Learn more about projects →
Note: Publishing slide deck templates to the Figma Community is not currently supported but we’re working on it!
Create a custom slide deck template
Custom slide deck templates consist of slide layouts, template colors, and text styles. You can create custom templates from scratch or by modifying slide layouts from existing templates.
Add slide layouts
Each slide you add to your template deck will be used as a slide layout option in the published template. We recommend including a variety of different slide layouts so your template can be used for any type of presentation.

Manage template colors
Template colors can be applied to any object with a fill or stroke such as shapes, text layers, and slide backgrounds. Use template colors to keep the color palette of your slide deck consistent across all slides. When you update a template color, all objects using that color will be automatically updated. Template colors are also used when remixing template styles on a slide.

Note: Only solid colors can be added as template colors. Gradients cannot be added to the template color palette.
You can manually create your template color palette or use styles and variables from Figma Design libraries you’ve added to your slide deck. Learn more about adding libraries to slide decks →
Tip: Use the Figma color wheel generator to quickly built color palettes for your deck.

Publish a custom template to your team or organization
Organization members with can edit

Publishing to a team? You can only publish templates to the team where the template file currently lives. If you want the template to be available in another team, you’ll need to move the template file to that team before publishing.
- Open the template you want to share.
- Click Share in the right sidebar to open the Share modal.
- Click Publish template. If the slide deck is in your drafts, you’ll be prompted to move it to a project.
- If your template has more than one template style, select which style you want to use for your template. Published templates can only have one template style. Learn more about template styles →
- Enter a name, description, and optional custom thumbnail for your template.
- Choose to publish the template to either your current team or your entire organization.
- Click Publish.
Edit a published template

- Select Admin in the sidebar.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Scroll down to the Other section, then turn off the Template publishing toggle.
