FD4B: Tour the file browser and customize your profile
Tour the file browser
Let's begin our journey in the file browser. This is the home page of your account, where you can access teams, projects, and files, as well as manage your account settings. Figma organizes you work by product type—so look for the design icon to identify your Figma Design files.
Note: In this course, we'll be using Figma's free Starter plan. Depending on your plan, the file browser may look slightly different. Learn more about the file browser.
In the sidebar, you'll see the teams you’re part of. Teams provide a shared space for collaboration. Within each team, you can create projects to keep your files organized.
The Recents page shows the files you’ve viewed most recently, making it easy to pick up where you left off. You can also star important files for quick access via the sidebar.
Every team includes a Drafts space—think of it as your personal sketchbook where you can brainstorm ideas and experiment freely. Once a draft is ready to share, you can move the file to a project to start collaborating with others.
Customize your profile
Because design files are collaborative spaces, it’s a good idea to use a name and avatar that others can recognize you by. You can update your profile from the account settings in the file browser:
- Select your avatar in the top-left corner of the file browser.
- Click Settings.
- Click Edit under the default avatar and select a new image from your computer.
You can also manage other parts of your account from here, including updating your notification preferences or changing Figma’s theme. Learn more about managing your account.
