AI features across the Figma platform help teams riff, refine, and ship faster than ever. Figma’s AI features use a credit system. To ensure everyone can try these features, AI credits are included with every seat on every plan.

AI credits by plan and seat
AI credits are used to run AI actions in Figma, including tools like Figma Make, AI image editing, and AI-powered workflows across the platform.
Every seat in Figma includes AI credits. The number of AI credits and what features you can use them with depends on your plan and seat type.
Seat credits:
- Are assigned to an individual user
- Reset monthly
- Don’t roll over
- Can’t be shared or transferred to other users
Credits do not represent legal tender, currency, or stored value, and are not redeemable for monetary value. They can only be used for Figma AI features.

*Starter plan users or users with a View seat also have a daily limit of 150 credits. If you reach your daily limit, you can continue using AI features the following day.

A note on credit limits
Credit limits are currently enforced for:
- Starter plans
- View, Collab, and Dev seats on paid plans
Although Full seat users may appear to reach their credit limit, those limits won’t be enforced until March 18, 2026. Until that date:
- Full seat users can continue using AI features even if they exceed their monthly credit limit.
- Usage above the limit will not be billed retroactively.
Once credit limits are enforced starting March 18:
- Credits reset on your plan’s normal monthly billing cycle date. You can view your reset date at any time.
- Any usage already incurred during the current usage period will count toward the monthly credit limit. If a Full seat user has already exceeded their monthly credit limit by March 18, they will be unable to use additional paid AI features until credits reset or additional credits are purchased by an admin.
- Full seat usage above the limit prior to March 18 will not be charged. Only AI usage after March 18 may draw from additional purchased credits if they are available.
Credit consumption
Each time you run an AI action, it consumes a number of credits based on factors such as the type of AI action, complexity of your request, and the model used.
AI credit consumption by feature
For AI image features like background removal, resolution enhancement, or image generation, credit usage is fixed. If multiple models are available, you can choose which one to use. Some models consume more credits but produce higher-quality images, while others are optimized to use fewer credits.
For agentic AI features like Figma Make, credit usage varies based on the underlying cost of the actions the AI takes to complete your request. Many factors can influence this cost, including the pricing of the underlying language model, the complexity of the task, and the amount of data or files the agent needs to process. If multiple models are available, you can choose which one to use. Some models may consume more credits than others.

Estimating cost for agentic AI
Figma’s agentic AI features use Figma AI credits. Credit usage for agentic features can vary based on the complexity of the request and the actions required to complete it.
More complex requests typically require more processing power and may use more credits. A longer or more detailed prompt can cause the AI to take additional actions, increasing credit usage. In some cases, concise prompts may consume more credits if the underlying task is complex, such as applying changes across a large or intricate file.
Because the AI determines what actions it needs to perform to complete a task, we can’t predict exactly how many credits a request will use in advance. After a task completes, you can see how many AI credits were consumed for that feature by hovering over the AI credits icon below the completed prompt.
Note: Due to the non-deterministic nature of AI models, all credit consumption example figures should be considered approximate. Credit consumption may vary, and general approximations may evolve over time.
Use the examples below to get a general sense of potential credit usage. Your own usage history will provide the most accurate estimate of expected credit consumption.

The credit consumption examples above are calculated using our default model. Other models are available in Figma Make, each with their own varying costs based on complexity of the task. For example, Claude Opus 4.6 is a powerful model that uses significantly more credits compared to other models.
You have control over which model you're using per each prompt in Figma Make, so you can leverage credits in a way that best fits your need.
To make the most of your AI credits in Figma Make, write clear, direct prompts that help the model understand exactly what to build or change. Here are a few additional ways to reduce credit usage:
- Use point-and-edit for small adjustments instead of describing them in a long prompt
- Edit the code directly when making minor changes
- Use the guidelines.md file to add global styling instructions for Figma Make to follow
When you generate Figma Slides or Figma Buzz files through ChatGPT, Figma AI credits are consumed. After a Slides or Buzz file is generated in ChatGPT, you can see how many AI credits were consumed.

Generating FigJam diagrams through ChatGPT does not consume Figma AI credits at this time.
Track how many credits you have left
An individual can view how many seat credits they have left at any time.
- Open the Main menu in any file.
- Select the AI balance option to see how many credits you’ve used, how many credits you have remaining, and when they’ll reset.
Note: Admins can track credit usage across their teams from the admin dashboard.
What happens when you run out of credits
When you’re out of credits, you’ll see an in-product message letting you know. If you have no credits, you will be unable to complete any additional AI actions.
If your admin has not yet added any additional AI credits for your team, you will have the option to request more credits. Your admin will be notified and can decide whether to add additional credits for your team.
If additional credits are added, you’ll be unblocked right away. If not, you’ll need to wait until your credits reset on the next reset date.
Note: Admins can purchase additional AI credits for their plan that can be used after users run out of seat credits.
Frequently asked questions

Credits reset automatically. Full, Collab, and Dev seats reset monthly. View seats and Starter plan reset monthly and also have a daily limit. If you hit your daily limit, you can resume use of your remaining credits the next day. If you reach your monthly limit, your credits will refresh on your next monthly reset date.

No. Credits are tied to a specific plan. Users with multiple plans will have separate credit allocations for each plan, and those credits don’t combine or stack.
Undoing an AI action reverts changes in your file but does not refund credits, since the task has already been processed. If a prompt fails due to a system error and no output is generated, credits are not deducted.
If you're on a View, Collab, or Dev seat, you can request an upgrade to a Full seat, which comes with a higher allocation of included credits.
Admins can also buy additional AI credits that can be used by anyone on the team or organization unless blocked by the admin.
