While in beta:
Figma Buzz is free for everyone.
Adding and editing images requires can edit
file access
Once Figma Buzz is out of beta, it will be included on the Full, Dev, and Content seats, in addition to our free Starter plan. We’ll notify you before that happens.
In Figma Buzz, you can add images directly to your asset from multiple sources:
- Browse free stock photos and illustrations from the built-in Unsplash library
- Upload files from your computer
- Generate new images using AI tools

Add new images
If you’re creating an asset from scratch, you can insert images from stock, upload your own, or generate them with AI.
Note:If you’re using a template with guidelines, you can’t add new images directly. Instead, you can replace existing images if the template allows it.
Browse stock photos
Search a built-in library of free, high-quality photos and illustrations from Unsplash without leaving your file.
Note: Before publishing, please make sure you have the rights to all content in your asset and are following Figma's Acceptable Publication Policy. Please note that images provided by Figma Buzz come from Unsplash. If you plan to use any images from Figma Buzz, you are responsible for vetting them for your particular use case. They are subject to Unsplash Terms and Conditions available at https://unsplash.com/terms.
To add a new stock image to your asset:
- In the left sidebar, click Media.
- Use the search bar to find the image you want.
- (Optional) Click More details to view image information.
- Click the image to add it to your asset. If you selected a shape, the image will be applied as a fill.
Upload your own images
If you have brand assets, product shots, or any other custom visuals, you can upload them directly from your computer.
- In the left sidebar, click Media.
- Select Upload image or video.
- Select a file from your device.
Generate an image with AI
Use AI to create custom images from a text prompt:
- In the left sidebar, click Media.
- Select Make an image.
- Enter a descriptive prompt.
- From the dropdown menu, select an available AI model.
- Click Make it.

Note: If you don’t see an option to create AI images, you may not have access to AI tools in Figma. Learn more about AI access.
Replace an existing image
You can replace any image with a stock photo, uploaded file, or AI-generated image.
- Select the image or node.
- In the inline toolbar, click Fill > Image & video.
- Select Choose media.
- Upload your own, browse the stock library, or generate an image.
If you’re using a template with guidelines, you can replace images from the Edit content tab.
- Select the asset.
- Click Edit content on the left navigation bar.
- Hover over the image and select Choose media.
- Upload your own, browse the stock library, or generate an image.
If an image isn’t replaceable from the Edit content tab, the template publisher has locked it. You can only replace locked images if you remove template guidelines.
Edit an image
Once you’ve added an image to your asset, you can make some adjustments.
- Select the image.
- From the inline toolbar, you can:
- Fill > Adjust image: Change exposure, contrast, saturation, temperature, tint, highlights, or shadows
- Fill > AI tools: Remove background, boost resolution, or edit the image with a prompt
- Border: Add a border stroke
- Crop: Adjust crop or fill, flip, or rotate
- Corners: Round image corners
- Effects: Adjust the image’s shadow, opacity, blur, or overlay
Admin image controls
On the Enterprise plan, organization admins can control access to the Unsplash stock image library.
To disable Unsplash images from Figma Buzz:
- Open the file browser by logging in to your account at figma.com.
- If you’re inside a file, click the Figma menu > Back to files.
- Select Admin.
- Select Settings.
- Under Resources, toggle Unsplash images on or off.
