Who can use this feature
Supported on the Figma Organization plan
Everyone in an organization has both an account type and a role. Their account type will determine what resources they can access in the organization workspace.
- Members have an email address that matches any of the organization's domains. This allows them to access shared resources within the organization, including teams, fonts, libraries, and plugins.
Guest have an email address that doesn't match an organization's. They could be contractors, agencies, clients, or external collaborators with external email addresses. Guests can only the specific teams, files, or projects to which you invite them. It's not possible to make a guest a member, unless you give them a company email.
A person's role in the organization determines the highest level of access they can have, as well as their billing status—if Figma includes them in an organization's billing. There are a few ways members can be assigned roles. Learn more about organization upgrades →
Add members or guests
There are a few ways to add members and guests to an organization:
- Add all company accounts to organization (domain capture)
- Invite to teams, projects, or files
- Add them to the organization
- Add them to your identity provider (SAML SSO)
The invite method also determines what account type and initial role you can assign. Learn more about roles and account types →

Only when domain capture is off
Domain capture makes sure anyone with a Figma account and a company email is included in the organization. This applies to anyone with any existing Figma account, as well as anyone who creates a new Figma account using their company email.
When domain capture is on, you can still invite members to teams, projects, or files in the organization. Members can join the organization by accepting the invitation.
If they don't have an account, Figma will make sure any account they create is part of the organization.
Invite to teams, projects, or files
Invite a member or guest to a file, project, or team to add them to your organization. Any member or guest can invite someone to a resource at or below their permission level.
For example: someone with view access can only invite others with view access. Someone with edit access can invite someone with view or edit access.
Note: Anyone you invite with can edit access is included in the organization's billing. Learn more about adding editors in a quarterly true-up →
Add to the organization
If domain capture is off: organization admins can add members to the organization in the Members tab. You can't invite guests to the organization, but you can invite them to a specific team, project, or file.
If domain capture is on: you can only add members or guests by inviting them to a team, project, or file.
- Select Admin settings in the sidebar.
- Select the Members tab.
- Click Invite member to open the invite modal.
- Enter the member's company email address and click Send Invite.
- Figma will send an email to the member's email address. Click the link in the email to join the organization.
Add via SAML SOO
If you have configured SAML SSO in your organization, you can add members to your identity provider. When added to your identity provider, Figma will create a provisional account for them.
The third-party documentation below has detailed instructions on how to add members to your identity provider:
