Who can use this feature

Only team admins can manage billing on the Professional plan

The Professional plan includes a single upgraded Figma team. Your bill is based on how many people in the team have a paid seat in Figma design and FigJam.

Figma sends a reminder three days before your invoice date. You can adjust the number of paid and free seats in your team during this time.

Understand your invoice

View your invoice

Team admins can find their team's plan summary, subscription details, and invoice history in the Billing tab.

From the file browser, click Admin.
Select the Billing tab.
Choose an invoice to review.

Your invoice will show you the number of paid Figma and FigJam seats on your Professional team.

Why do I get a separate monthly invoice if I’m on annual billing?

If you add new paid seats to your team during an annual subscription, Figma will charge you a separate monthly subscription for those seats.

When you begin or renew an annual subscription, you purchase a set number of paid seats for the year.
When you add extra paid seats throughout your annual subscription term, we’ll charge you a monthly subscription for just those seats. This helps you manage the cost of Figma if you have a portion of users who only need to pay for Figma for a short time.

Tip: You can simplify your billing by converting monthly users to annual users.

Invoice examples

You purchase 15 Figma design seats and 30 FigJam seats on the Professional plan on annual billing.

We’ll charge you a single invoice each year for US$3,240. This breaks down to 15 Figma design seats x $144 per user per year + 30 FigJam seats x $36 per user per year.

You purchase 15 Figma design seats and 30 FigJam seats on the Professional plan on annual billing.

When you subscribe, we’ll charge you an annual invoice for US$3,240. This breaks down to 15 Figma design seats x $144 per user per year + 30 FigJam seats x $36 per user per year.

In your first month, you add 3 Figma design seats and 3 FigJam seats.

In your second month, we’ll charge you a monthly invoice for US$60. This breaks down to 3 Figma design seats x $15 per user per month + 3 FigJam seats x $5 per user per month.

You purchase 15 Figma design seats and 30 FigJam seats on the Professional plan on monthly billing.

We’ll charge you a monthly invoice for US$375. This breaks down to 15 Figma design seats x $15 per user per month + 30 FigJam seats x $5 per user per month.

Manage paid seats

Add paid seats during your billing period

You can add paid seats at any time during your subscription. There are two main ways to add paid seats:

Change a person’s seat type from Viewer to Full

From the file browser, click Admin.
Select the Members tab.
From the dropdown menu next to someone’s Design or FigJam seat, change the seat type to Full.

Purchase paid seats without assigning them to an existing user

From the file browser, click Admin.
Select the Billing tab.
Select Add additional seats

Note: If you have a mix of annual seats and monthly seats in your account, clicking Add additional seats will convert monthly seats into annual seats.

Convert monthly seats to annual seats on an annual subscription

If you added paid seats during the term of an annual subscription, you’ll have the option to convert those seats from monthly billing to annual billing.

From the file browser, click Admin.
On the Billing tab, see how many monthly users you have for both Figma design and FigJam.
Go to the Settings tab and select Add additional seats.
Add the number of Figma design and FigJam seats you’d like to convert to annual billing. If you add more seats than you need, Figma will show you a label that says 1 unused Figma design seat will be added or 1 unused FigJam seat will be added.
Click Add annual seats

Once you convert your seats, you’ll receive one more invoice the following month. After that point – assuming no seats are added – you won’t receive another invoice until your annual subscription renews.

Tip: You can verify whether your monthly seats have become annual seats by looking at the Billing tab and seeing if there are any monthly seats listed. You can also click See cost breakdown on your final monthly invoice to see the pro-rated cost for converting monthly seats to annual.

Note: Its not possible to convert annual seats to monthly seats during an annual subscription term. But, you can switch to monthly billing at the end of your annual subscription. To do so, follow the steps to cancel your Professional plan subscription, then re-subscribe with monthly billing on your plan's renewal date.

Downgrade paid seats to free during your billing period

You can downgrade people to a free seat at any time during your billing cycle.

From the file browser, click Admin.
Select the Members tab.
From the dropdown menu next to someone’s Design or FigJam seat, change the seat type to Viewer-restricted.

Note: We won’t issue a prorated refund when you downgrade a user to a free seat. However, someone else at your company can use the paid seat once it becomes available.
