Assign teams to a workspace
Workspaces are groups of teams, people, and resources within an organization. They add another layer of structure within organizations. You can group or structure related teams by assigning them to a workspace.
- Organization admins can assign, reassign, or unassign any team in the organization.
- Workspace admins can claim unassigned teams, move teams between workspaces where they’re an admin, and unassign teams from their workspaces.
Assign teams to a workspace
Assign teams to any workspace where you’re an admin.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Select the relevant workspace in the sidebar.
- Select the Teams tab and click + Assign teams.
- Navigate to, or search for, teams you'd like to assign and mark the checkbox next to their name.
- Click Assign teams.
Note: Workspace admins can also set default teams for a workspace. Figma adds members to these default teams when they are assigned to the workspace.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Click Content at the top of the page, then switch to the Teams tab.
- Navigate to the team you'd like to assign.
- In the Workspace column, click Unassigned and select a new workspace.
Tip: To assign teams in bulk, hover over a team and click the checkbox at the start of the row. Select multiple teams, then click Change workspace from the menu that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Note: Assigning a team to a hidden workspace won't change team members' access to the team. However, they will only be able to view details about the workspace if they are specifically assigned to it.
Move teams between workspaces
Workspace admins can only move teams between workspaces they manage.
- From the file browser, select Admin in the left sidebar.
- Select the relevant workspace in the sidebar.
- Select the Teams tab to view teams in the current workspace.
- Navigate to, or search for, the team you'd like to move.
- In the Workspace column for that team, click the current workspace name and select a new one. If you don't see the workspace where you'd like to move the team, double check if you're a workspace admin of that workspace.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Click Content at the top of the page, then switch to the Teams tab.
- In the Workspace column, click the name of the current workspace the team is assigned to and select a new one.
Tip: To assign teams in bulk, hover over a team and click the checkbox at the start of the row. Select multiple teams, then click Change workspace from the menu that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Unassign a team from a workspace
Unassign teams from the current workspace. This won’t remove anyone’s access to the team, or affect any files and projects in the team.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Select the relevant workspace in the sidebar.
- Select the Teams tab.
- Navigate to, or search for, the team you'd like to unassign.
- In the Workspace column, click the current workspace name and select Unassign.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Click Content at the top of the page, then switch to the Teams tab.
- In the Workspace column, click the current workspace name and select Unassign.
