Depending on which approach is right for you, you can get in touch with our sales team or follow the instructions below to upgrade on your own.
Here are some things you should note before you begin:
- You’ll need a Figma account with a work email address to upgrade to the Organization plan. For example:
[yourname]@examplecompany.com
. - During the upgrade, you can migrate any teams you’re an admin of into the new Figma organization. If you’re an admin of a team that isn’t listed as an option to migrate, double check whether your account in that team is an admin and uses the same work email address.
- If any teams included in the upgrade are subscribed to the Professional plan, Figma will automatically generate a credit for the remainder of the subscription(s). This applies to both monthly or annual subscriptions. The credit amount will be applied to the first subscription renewal after your initial upgrade to the Organization plan.
- People with email addresses from other companies will be converted into guests in your new organization. These guests will retain their existing level of permissions in files, projects, and teams they access.
- When you upgrade, Figma will move your existing teams into a new Figma organization. During this time, you won't be able to access your existing teams. This process usually takes a couple of minutes, but can take longer for teams with hundreds of members or lots of resources. We recommend you set aside an hour for this task and choose a time which will cause minimal disruption to your team(s).
- Once your Organization plan subscription is active, you'll be able to create new teams or upgrade other teams.

Downgrade your plan
Cancelling your Professional plan subscription will downgrade your team to the free Starter plan. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you downgrade:
-
File limit: On the Starter plan, your team can have three FigJam files, three Figma Design files, and three Figma Slides files with a maximum of three pages per design file. You can invite as many people as you want to view or edit these files. If you have more than the allowed number of files in your team when you downgrade, Figma will prevent you from being able to edit your files. To keep editing those files, move them to another team or to your team drafts.

Project limit: On a Starter plan, your team will have one project. If your team has more than one project when you downgrade, Figma will lock your team and prevent you from editing your files. To keep editing, you'll need to reorganize your files and projects so they are under those limits.

If you want to continue using Figma on the free Starter team, we recommend that you do the following:
- Move up to three Figma Design and three FigJam files into one project
- Remove extra projects
- Move files to another team or to your Starter team's drafts
- Download copies of your account invoices
If you want to delete your team, you’ll need to cancel your Professional plan subscription first.
To cancel your Professional plan subscription:
- Using the browser or Figma desktop app, locate the Professional team in the file browser sidebar.
- Click Admin.
- Select the Settings tab.
- In the Plan section, click Cancel plan.
- Figma will ask you for a cancellation reason. Select the most appropriate reason and click Cancel plan.
At the end of your billing period, Figma will downgrade your team to a free Starter team. You’ll have access to all Professional plan features until the end of the current billing period.
Note: Downgrading or cancelling your subscription does not automatically delete your account.
