• Approve plugins in an organization

  Before you start

  Who can use this feature

  Available on the Organization and Enterprise plans.

  Only organization admins can publish private plugins to the organization.

  Plugins are third-party scripts or applications that extend the functionality of Figma. By default, members can run plugins without approval from an organization admin.

  With plugin approval enabled, organization admins can choose a list of allowed plugins for their organization. Members will need to request approval to run plugins that aren't on the list.

  Members can still view public plugins outside this list, but not run them in organization files. Organization members can also use any private organization plugins.

  Enable approved plugins list

  1. Open Figma in the file browser.
  2. Select Admin Settings in the sidebar and click the Settings tab.
  3. In the Other section, toggle on Plugin approval.

  Note: Figma reviews every plugin that members publish to the Figma Community for overall quality. Due to the nature of the plugin development process, Figma isn't able to perform extensive reviews of a plugin's privacy and security.

  Figma does not review plugins that are shared privately within the organization. Learn more about our Plugin Review Guidelines.

  Add approved plugins

  Adding a plugin to the approve list allows organization members to run these plugins in the organization space.

  There isn't currently a way for members to request an approved plugin in Figma. Members will need to contact an organization admin directly to add a plugin to the approve list.

  1. Go to the plugin listing that you want to approve.
  2. Click Copy link in the Share section to add the plugin URL to your clipboard.
  3. Select Admin settings in the sidebar.
  4. Select Resources at the top of the page, then select Approved plugins.
  5. Click to add a plugin to the approve list.
  6. Paste the plugin link in the field provided and click Add to confirm. Figma will add the plugin to the list of approved plugins.

  Remove approved plugins

  Removing plugins from the approve list will prevent members from using the plugin in an organization files. That applies to any files within the organization space.

  Members can still use public plugins in their personal space.

  1. Select Admin settings in the sidebar.
  2. Select Resources at the top of the page, then select Approved plugins.
  3. Click next to the plugin and select Remove plugin.
  4. Figma will remove the plugin from the approve list.

  Spotted a suspicious or inappropriate plugin? Report the plugin to the Figma team.

  1. Open the plugin page and scroll to the bottom.
  2. Click the Flag as inappropriate link at the bottom of the page.
  3. Use the field provided to add any relevant details then click Send message.

• Approve organization widgets

  Who can use this feature

  Supported on the Organization and Enterprise plans.

  Only organization admins can manage approved widgets.

  Organization admins can control which widgets members can use in organization FigJam files.

  When enabled, members can only install and run widgets that are on the approved list. This includes any widgets members installed before the setting was enabled.

  Members can still view widgets outside this list in files outside the organization.

  Enable approved widgets list

  1. Open the organization Figma.
  2. Select Admin settings in the sidebar and click the Settings tab.
  3. In the Other section, toggle on Approved widgets.

• Create private organization plugins

  Supported on the Organization and Enterprise plans.

  Any member of an organization can publish a private plugin to the organization.

  Only organization admins can publish public plugins to an organization profile. Publish plugins to the Community →

  Organizations often have internal tools and systems, with private information or data, that can't be shared outside the organization.

  Private plugins allows members of the organization to use organization-specific plugins, without having to share them with the rest of the Community.

  • Any member of an organization can make and share a private plugin.
  • Only team admins can publish plugins to the team's Community profile.
  • Only organization admins can share publish plugins to the organization's Community profile.

  Publish private plugins

  When publishing a plugin, you can use the Publish to setting to choose whether to publish the plugin to the organization or the Community. Private plugins don't need to go through the review process before they are available to use.

  1. Open the file browser in the Figma desktop app.

  2. Click on the account switcher in the top-right corner and select the Plugins tab. Figma will load any plugins you have In development.

  3. Click on the plugin you'd like to publish and select Publish from the options.

  4. Complete any details including the name, icon, cover art, and description.

  5. Select Organization name to share the plugin privately within the organization.

     

  6. Click Publish to submit your plugin. The plugin is now available to members of your organization. Guests aren't able to access install or run private plugins.

  Only the plugin's original publisher can change the plugin's access. They can update this setting by publishing an update to the plugin.

  Update the Publish to setting to change who can access the plugin. If you're changing a plugin from private to public, it will need to go through Figma's plugin review process.

  If the original publisher has left the organization and you need to transfer ownership of a private plugin, contact the Figma Support team.

  View private plugins

  To find and install plugins that are private to your organization:

  1. From the file browser, click All teams or All workspaces.
  2. Select the Plugins header at the top of the page.
  3. Browse through any plugins that are private to your organization.
  4. Click the ↓ Save button to add the plugin to your account.

• Save plugins for the organization

  Only organization admins can save plugins for the entire organization

  If you are an organization admin, you can save plugins for the entire organization. When you save a plugin for everyone in the organization, Figma will:

  • Save the plugin for every member of the organization. It's not possible to save plugins for a specific team or group of members
  • Make the plugin available in Figma design and FigJam files

  Browse plugins as an organization admin

  To save plugins for the entire organization, you need to access the Community as an organization admin:

  1. In the Community navigation bar, click Browse as an admin. Figma displays a list of profiles available under your current account.

  2. Select the profile you want to browse as. Admin profiles display a badge next to the name.

     

  3. A blue banner displays across the top of the page to indicate that you are browsing under an organization admin profile.

  Save plugins for the organization

  1. Find the plugin you’d like to save.
  2. Click Save for everyone to save the plugin for everyone in the organization. 
     
  3. The plugin will show as Saved by organization in the Saved section of your plugins list.

  Remove plugins for the organization

  Organization admins can remove plugins for everyone in the organization. Individual members can still save the plugin, if they want to keep using the plugin. To prevent organization members from using a plugin, use the Approve plugins setting.

  1. Find the plugin you’d like to remove.
  2. Click Remove for everyone to remove the plugin for everyone in the organization.
