AI is available throughout Figma, in each product and at every stage of your workflow.
There are a few ways to use AI in Figma, each suited to different kinds of work. In this article, you’ll learn about three ways to access AI tools across Figma:
- The Figma agent: A conversational AI tool you can collaborate with within Figma files as a part of your workflow
- Figma Make: A prompt-to-app tool that lets you bring ideas and existing Figma designs to life
- Individual AI tools: Focused AI features available across Figma products, built for specific purposes and needs
Additionally, you’ll learn:
- Why can't I access AI features?: A breakdown of common reasons you might not be able to access AI features in your account
- Best practices when using AI tools: What to keep in mind when working with AI-generated outputs
Work with the Figma agent
The Figma agent is a conversational AI tool you collaborate with in Figma files. You can describe what you want in plain language, and the agent will generate designs, make edits, apply your design system, give feedback, and handle busywork. Work with the agent directly in the canvas.

Tip: Use the agent to create custom plugins and shaders
You can use AI to build your own reusable plugins or shaders directly in Figma by prompting the Figma agent. Plugins are canvas capabilities that you can create and customize to suit your unique workflow needs.
Who can use the Figma agent?
The Figma agent is currently in open beta and is available on Professional, Organization, and Enterprise plans. Users with Full seats can chat with the agent in shared Figma Design files. All users (Full, Dev, Collab, and View seats) can try the agent in Figma Design files in drafts.
Build with Figma Make
Figma Make is a code editor for prototyping on your codebase or from scratch. With a new Figma editing panel and annotations, you can precisely edit your prototypes, and share those ideas with your team.
Use Figma Make to:
- Preview the look and feel of your designs in a functional form
- Turn proposals and ideas into prototypes to help hone your product approach
- Explore a variety of solutions for a problem you're trying to solve
Who can use Figma Make?
Full functionality of Figma Make is available for Full seats on the Professional, Organization, or Enterprise plans, but you can explore some features with Dev or Collab sets, or on the Starter plan.
Use individual AI tools
Individual AI tools are focused features built into Figma's products. Each AI tool does one specific thing, right where you need it.
AI tools are available across Figma Design, FigJam, Figma Slides, Figma Sites, and Figma Buzz for users on paid plans. Use the chart below to discover which AI tools are available in each product.
To see a breakdown of AI tools by product, check out the following guides:

Who can use individual AI tools?
Individual AI tools (such as Rewrite text, Expand image, or Rename layers) are available on the Professional, Organization, or Enterprise plans.
Additionally, your seat type impacts which AI tools you can use in which product.
- All seat types can try AI tools in drafts. Drafts are a personal space for experimenting in Figma. If you're trying out AI in a product that's not otherwise included with your seat, you'll need to upgrade before you can share your file with a team or move it into a project.
- To use AI features in shared team files, the following seat type limitations apply:
| Access to AI tools in Figma Design | Access to AI tools in Figma Sites | Access to AI tools in FigJam | Access to AI tools in Figma Slides | |
| Full seat | ||||
| Dev seat | ||||
| Collab seat | ||||
| View seat |
Note: Figma Buzz is currently in beta. During beta, Figma Buzz is available to all users, regardless of seat type. AI tools in Figma Buzz are available to everyone during this period.
Why don’t I have access to AI features?
If you do not have access to AI features in your account, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
- Your team or organization is opted out: Your admin has already chosen to opt your team or organization out of AI features. Please contact your admin if you have questions.
- You're on a Figma for Education plan: AI feature availability depends on your Education account type.
- AI tools are available for higher education and bootcamp Education users. AI tools are not available for K-12 Education users.
- Figma Make is available for higher education or bootcamp Education users. It is not available to K-12 users.

Best practices when using AI tools
When it comes to building AI, we want to be transparent about what we’re doing and what this means for you. Learn more about Figma’s approach to AI.
There are a few things to keep in mind when using any AI tool:
Accuracy
AI-powered tools are designed to provide information and results based on artificial intelligence algorithms, and identify patterns and relationships from large amounts of data. It’s important to note that the accuracy and reliability of these results may vary.
There is a possibility of inaccuracies, omissions, or misleading outcomes due to the complexities and limitations of AI technologies. Therefore, the information provided by the tool should be regarded as a general reference and not a fact or a substitute for expert advice or your own research.
Your responsibilities
- You should exercise your own judgment and discretion when using AI-powered tools. It’s essential to verify and cross-check the information provided by the tool before making any decisions, taking actions, or relying on it for critical matters.
- You should let others know when you’re using or presenting AI-generated outputs. For some features, like summarize stickies, Figma will indicate when an output is AI-generated.
- You will only use AI features in accordance with Figma’s Acceptable Use Policy.
