Guide to organization admin
Before you start
Who can use this feature
Supported on the Organization and Enterprise plan
Only organization admins and workspace admins can access admin settings.
Are you an admin of a team? Check out our Guide to team management →
Admins are members that have extra administrative rights within an organization. There are two types of admins in an organization: organization admins and workspace admins.
Organization admins manage all aspects of the organization. This includes everything from members and resources, to billing and other organization-wide settings. They can access all tabs in admin settings.
Workspace admins (Enterprise plan only) manage their specific workspace(s). They can manage roles for workspace members, set and assign default teams, and help with billing true-ups. They can only access Members and Teams.
Access admin settings
Both admins can view and manage their organization or workspace in the Admin settings.
- Open Figma in the file browser.
- Select Admin settings in the sidebar.
Organization admins can access all tabs and settings. Workspace admins can only access tabs related to their specific tasks.
Dashboard
The Dashboard lets organization admins see an overview of the organization, including:
- Organization name and logo
- Total number of teams in the organization
- Total number of members (including admins and guests) in the organization
- Billing summary including any upcoming invoices and true-ups. The alert lets you know when your invoice is due.
- Summary of any new members in your organization
Want to change the image for the organization? Hover over the current image until the appears. Click to select another image from your computer.
Workspaces
This page only exists on the Enterprise plan. This is where organization admins can create and edit workspaces and assign workspace admins.
Workspaces are groups of teams, people, and resources within an organization. People can only be a member of one workspace, but they can browse teams and resources in other workspaces.
Organization admins can:
- Create and set up workspaces
- Add or remove workspace admins
- Assign members and guests to workspaces
- Assign teams to a workspace
- Rename workspace
- Delete a workspace
Teams
Organizations allow you to create as many teams as you need. Team admins can define how organization members can find and join teams.
Organization admins can:
- View a list of open, closed, and secret teams in the organization. Organization admins don't have admin access to all teams. You need to be an admin of a team to manage it.
- Claim ownership of any teams in the organization that no longer have an owner. This allows admins to assign new owners or redistribute files and projects.
- Add teams to a specific workspace, or assign default teams for a workspace.
Manage teams in an organization →
Workspace admins can:
- View teams in workspaces they are an admin of.
- Assign unclaimed teams to workspaces they are an admin of.
Members
The Members tab is where you can view everyone in your organization. This applies to both members and guests.
View guest activity and and manage access, review and confirm editors for the quarterly true-up, and manage people in bulk.
Organization admins can view everyone in the organization. Workspace admins can only view people in workspaces they’re an admin of, or people currently unassigned to a workspace.
- View members and guests
- Manage roles in organizations
- Review and confirm new editors
- View members and guest activity
- Remove people from an organization
- Make someone an organization admin (organization admin only)
On the Enterprise plan, organizations can choose to restrict or prevent guest access. Organization admins can manage guests:
- Invite guests to organization resources
- Restrict or prevent guest access
- Accept guest access requests
- View guest access
Activity
Activity logs give organization admins a record of how members and guests are using and editing files and resources in the organization. Organization admins can use activity logs to:
- See who is accessing, copying and sharing files in the organization.
- Decide who should have edit access and be included in the organization's billing.
- Track members creating, joining, leaving, and deleting teams.
- Track changes made to team, file, and project permissions.
- Monitor changes made to the organization by other admins.
- Identify and prevent misuse of organization resources.
Admins can export a record of all activity by date, member, event type, and team. Tracked events and activity logs →
Billing
Figma bills organizations on the Organization or Enterprise plan via an annual subscription. To account for new editor seats, Figma also runs a quarterly true-up.
From the Billing tab an organization admin can:
- View past and upcoming invoices.
- Adjust the billing contact for the organization.
- View new editors to the organization and manage quarterly true-ups.
Billing on organization plans →
Resources
Organizations allow you to share resources within your organization. Organization admins can view and manage these resources from the Resources page.
Select Libraries, Fonts, and Plugins to view and manage resources.
Libraries
In an organization, you can publish libraries to a specific team or to the organization. This allows members to access those libraries in files, and team admins to turn on those libraries for their team. Shared libraries in an organization →
Organization admins can make a library available to all teams in the organization. This enables the library for all teams and organization files. Manage default organization libraries →
Members can track how the organization is using components with design system analytics. Learn more about library analytics →
Note: Guests can only access libraries you invite them to. Invite guests to the original file to give them access to those styles and components across organization files.
Fonts
Figma gives you access to an extensive catalog of Google Web Fonts. You can also use the desktop app or the Figma Font Helper to access local fonts alongside Figma's default fonts.
Figma organizations can upload and share custom fonts in specific teams or across the organization. This removes the need to share, install, or update fonts for individual users, and allows Chromebook and Linux users to access custom fonts.
You can only upload fonts in .TTF and .OTF format, it's not possible to upload web fonts. Learn more about sharing fonts in an organization →
Plugins
Plugins are third-party scripts or applications that extend the functionality of an application. Plugins run in Figma design or FigJam files and let you perform tasks within files.
The Organization plan has extra features for controlling how members use and share plugins:
- Create private plugins to share within your organization →
- Approve plugins that members can use within the organization space →
- Install or uninstall plugins for everyone in the organization →
If the original publisher has left the organization and you need to transfer ownership of a private plugin, contact the Figma Support team.
Settings
The Settings page allows organization admins to manage any organization-wide setting. This includes everything from company domains and authentication, to controlling which features and resources people can access.
Domains
Organization admins can view, add, and remove registered company domains. Domains play an important part in controlling who can access the organization.
Members are people in the organization that have an email address that matches any of the organization's domains. Members can access teams, libraries, and other resources shared within the organization.
Guests are external users with email addresses that don't match any of the organization's domains. They could be contractors, agencies, clients, or external collaborators. Guests have limited access to the organization. They can only access the resources you invite them to.
- Domains and domain capture
- Add or remove organization domains
- Enable or disable domain capture
- Members versus guests
Login and provisioning
Organizations give you more options for authenticating members. Organizations can choose what methods are available in the organization, and set up additional features like SAML SSO and SCIM.
On the Enterprise plan, you have greater control over role setting.
- Set roles using SCIM (Enterprise plan)
- Set default roles (Enterprise plan)
Access
Organization admins can control access to specific features in Figma:
- Disable audio feature
- Manage public link sharing
- Disable open sessions
- Restrict access to external content
- Restrict access on a corporate network
Organization admins can manage the organization's profile in the Community.
- Update the organization's profile handle to choose another handle
- Delete the organization's profile to remove it from the Figma Community
They can also manage which Community resources people in the organization can access:
- Install plugins for the organization
- Approve plugins in an organization
- Create private organization plugins
- Disable template picker
On the Enterprise plan, organization admins can use these settings to manage guest access:
- View guest access
- Control guest access (Enterprise plan)
- Accept guest access requests (Enterprise plan)
SCIM member metadata
If you have SCIM set up, you can track extra member data from your identity provider. You can map these attributes when you configure SCIM with your provider.
You can choose which of these attributes you want to access in Figma. That attribute will be shown in the Members tab alongside Figma's default data.
- Open Admin settings > Settings
- In the Other section, click Member metadata.
- Choose from Cost center, organization, division, or department.
- Figma will show this data in the Members tab. You'll be able to sort your member list based on this column.
